  • Blackhead Treatment: Kill Those Blackheads

    There are a number of products and forms of treatment available to treat or to remove blackheads. Here we take a look at blackhead treatment.

    Blackhead Removal


    Before considering treatment for your blackheads always consult your doctor, physician or a professional dermatologist. Note: Some treatment may cause side effects.

    Benzoyl Peroxide


    Benzoyl peroxide treatment acts as an anti-bacteria agent and has proved effective in reducing plugging or preventing comedones from forming. This form of blackhead treatment also works on other forms of acne and comes in various forms with differing strengths.

    Tretinoin


    Tretinoin or Retin-A, Avita or Renova, has proved very effective in treating blackheads or whiteheads. It contains Vitamin A agents and works by increasing healthy skin cell turnover as well as opening up closed comedones - the cause of blackheads.

    Antibiotics


    Antibiotics is a prescribed topical or oral form of blackhead treatment and acts to fight bacteria. The most common form of oral antibiotic treatments are tetracycline, minocycline, doxycycline and erythromycin. Antibiotics will fight to treat your blackheads and also other forms of acne.

    Isotretinoin


    Isotretinoin or Accutane is usually used for more severe forms of acne but it does have excellent comedone fighting agents and has proved successful in combating blackheads.

    Blackhead Extraction


    Extraction does what the name suggests - extracts blackheads. This form of treatment can be self performed with comedone extractors devices freely available over the counter. However it is best advised to seek professional blackhead removal.
