Age spots Creams

There are many age spots creams available over the counter to treat age spots. These creams act by lightening the skin area or fading the sun spots in a bleaching fashion. Agents such as hydroquinone, Vitamin A and Vitamin C in retinol form will gradually fade out age spots.

Retinoids

Retinoids such as Retin-A and Renova are a prescription medication cream and act by fading the age spots while also promoting healthier skin cell development around affected areas. Note: Retinoids can cause dryness of the skin.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels have proved successful in fading age spots and act by peeling away very thin layers of skin with acidic agents. This is a common form of treatment and can also work for other skin conditions such as acne.

Laser Treatment

Laser treatment is another form of successful age spots removal and acts by penetrating affected areas of the skin with intense beams of light that ‘burn’ away the age spots. This can be an expensive form of treatment and may consist of several procedures for optimal results.

Sunblock

While good old fashioned sunblock won’t remove your age spots, by applying sun block when exposed to the sun and it’s powerful ultraviolet rays, you can reduce the chances of being affected by them in later years. Furthermore, sunblock is vital in reducing the risk of skin cancer so always use it when sunbathing or out in the sun.
